Welcome to the Gates of Paradise
The Baptistery doors of San Giovanni in Florence, Italy, are believed to have established the principles of Renaissance Art. The Eastern door of the Baptistery is the masterpiece of Lorenzo Ghiberti, who worked on it for 27 years, lavishing on it all the richness of his imagination, combined with a fine sense of composition and profound knowledge of the modeller's art. Michelangelo defined the door as fit to be the "Gates of Paradise.”
The door, a universally admired masterpiece, has ten panels depicting Biblical scenes. The door's original gilding has been recovered from beneath the patina formed over the centuries. It was badly damaged by Florence's flood in 1966 when the waters of the Arno reached a height of more than 180 cm. After restoration it was moved to the museum of the Cathedral and substituted by a copy. The theme of the “Gates of Paradise” is the promise of salvation, and the prophetic prefiguring of Christ.
Enana & Co. is thrilled to announce that after more than 5 years of diligent and painstaking sculpting, the 10 magnificant Panels of the Gates of Paradise, as splinded and envisioned by the Master Ghiberti, have been re-produced! E & Co. will be casting 100 edition. The panels will be molded from durable resine, gilded and antiquated. To evoke the exact essence of the original Gates of Paradise, the entire re-production process is performed by the hands of a Master Sculptor.
